IBM has bagged a 10-year, multi-billion dollar contract
to provide computer infrastructure services to Dutch bank ABN Amro running on its cloud systems, reports Reuters.

The contract is a significant one given IBM is
struggling to gain momentum in the market for cloud-based services. As per the
deal, IBM will provide fully managed services for mainframe computers, servers,
storage and end-user computing as well as a help desk and other technical
support. IBM, however, did not disclose financial details of the deal.

Last month, IBM won a 7-year outsourcing contract
from Germany’s Lufthansa worth 1 billion euros ($1.25 billion) that will see
the company take over the airline’s information technology infrastructure
services division and staff.

The competition for such large multi-year deals has been increasing in recent times. Increasingly, Indian firms such as TCS and Infosys are also more frequently considered for these contracts alongside multinationals like IBM, Accenture and others.
